About the Role
Waldorf Astoria London - Admiralty Arch is preparing to open a landmark luxury hotel later this year and is inviting a Chef de Partie - Nights to become part of this exciting pre-opening team. Located opposite Buckingham Palace at the end of The Mall, this hotel offers 100 elegant rooms and suites alongside private residences, complemented by two exclusive signature restaurants helmed by famed Michelin-starred chefs Clare Smyth and Daniel Boulud. The hotel also features a world-class spa, fitness amenities, and expansive event spaces including a ballroom accommodating up to 320 guests. As part of Hilton's flagship luxury brand, the position embodies delivering timeless elegance and an unparalleled guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee night-time kitchen operations within your section to ensure exceptional food preparation and presentation that surpass guest and member expectations.
- Maintain brand and quality standards consistently across all food preparation activities.
- Prepare and present dishes with exceptional quality and refinement.
- Lead, supervise, and motivate colleagues within your kitchen section effectively.
- Sustain impeccable cleanliness and hygiene standards, strictly preventing cross-contamination.
- Organize all mise en place in accordance with service requirements and menu specifications.
- Respond to guest feedback and inquiries swiftly, professionally, and solution-oriented.
- Ensure ingredients are superior quality, accurately labeled, properly stored, and rotated as needed.
- Contribute to cost control measures aimed at optimizing gross profits and achieving departmental goals.
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure fluid operations and maintain positive working relationships.
- Support the Head Chef and Sous Chef in coaching and developing kitchen team members per company protocols.
- Identify and report any maintenance, hygiene, or safety concerns proactively.
- Adhere rigorously to hotel security policies, fire safety regulations, and all health and food safety laws.
- Demonstrate environmental consciousness and actively support the hotel's sustainability initiatives.
Qualifications and Skills
- Minimum two years' experience as a Chef de Partie or strong experience as a Demi Chef de Partie in a high-quality kitchen setting.
- Holds a relevant, current professional cookery qualification evidenced upon request.
- Proven ability to coach, mentor, and lead kitchen teams effectively.
- Possesses clear, confident, and effective communication skills.
- Holds NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Professional Cookery.
- Certified with a Basic Food Hygiene Certificate; Intermediate certification is advantageous.
- Prior supervisory experience in culinary environments is required.
- Exhibits a consistently positive, professional, and proactive approach towards problem-solving.
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently under pressure.
- Flexible to operate independently or collaboratively within a team environment.
- Experience in a premium or luxury hospitality environment is beneficial.
- Awareness and understanding of current culinary trends and techniques is preferred.
