Checkout Operator

Overview

This position involves ensuring the smooth and effective operation of the Checkout Department, while delivering exceptional customer service at Centra's Claremorris location.

Responsibilities

• Uphold Centra's core brand values: Proud, Energetic, Imaginative, and Community-Based.
• Operate a computerized till system equipped with a barcode scanner for efficient transaction processing.
• Weigh and price items such as fruits and vegetables accurately.
• Verify customer age for products with age restrictions like alcohol.
• Package customers' purchases carefully and efficiently.
• Handle coupons and vouchers during checkout transactions.
• Accept payments and ensure the till balances correctly at the conclusion of each day.
• Contribute by stocking shelves and conducting stock checks when away from the till.
• Maintain high standards of merchandise display and overall department presentation.
• Participate in team meetings actively and apply learnings to improve departmental operations.

Candidate Profile

• Preferably possesses at least two years of experience in retail.
• Competent in balancing tills accurately.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.
• Skilled at engaging customers and prioritizing their needs effectively.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and adaptable to changing demands.
• Capable of using own initiative and collaborating within a team in a dynamic, fast-paced setting.

Work location: Hegarty's Centra, Claremorris, County Mayo, Ireland.
