Job Overview
This position is a permanent full-time role located in an urban setting in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Assistant Manager will be responsible for managing daily restaurant operations, supervising a team of 5-10 staff members, and ensuring excellent customer service and compliance with health and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee and evaluate daily restaurant operations to ensure efficiency.
- Plan and organize daily tasks and operations to meet business objectives.
- Supervise and train staff to maintain high performance and customer service standards.
- Balance cash registers and prepare financial documents including balance sheets and cash reports.
- Conduct performance reviews to provide feedback and growth opportunities to team members.
- Manage inventory organization and maintenance effectively.
- Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations in the workplace.
- Participate in the development and execution of marketing and promotional plans.
- Handle customer complaints and concerns with professionalism and promptness.
- Deliver high-quality customer service at all times.
Required Qualifications and Skills
- Secondary (high) school graduation certificate is required.
- Between 1 and 2 years of relevant work experience.
- Certifications including First Aid, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS), and Food Safety Certificate.
- Competence in computer applications such as MS Excel, MS Windows, point of sale systems, and spreadsheets.
- Familiarity with operating in a fast-paced environment with repetitive tasks and physical demands such as standing for extended periods.
- Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both written and oral, with dependability and client focus.
- Ability to work flexibly including early mornings, evenings, night, weekend shifts, and flexible hours.
Work Environment and Conditions
- Urban workplace setting with 35 to 40 working hours per week.
- Physical requirements include a mix of sitting, standing, walking, and extended standing periods.
- Reference checks are required prior to employment.
