Job description
Role Overview
The CCTV Technician is responsible for the complete installation, upkeep, configuration, and repair of CCTV and security surveillance systems. This role requires hands-on work with various system components and integration with other security devices.
Key Responsibilities
- Install security cameras, mounting brackets, monitors, power supplies, and recording hardware such as DVRs and NVRs.
- Manage wiring tasks including cable routing, configuring IP addresses, and connecting surveillance systems to local networks or remote viewing platforms.
- Identify and resolve problems related to malfunctioning cameras, wiring issues, or errors in recording equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections, firmware updates, and preventive maintenance to ensure surveillance systems perform reliably.
- Integrate CCTV systems with other security components like access control gates and alarm systems.
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Solid understanding of IP-based camera systems, fundamental electrical principles, and security system diagrams.
- Experience in utilizing hand and power tools along with testing instruments for equipment installation and troubleshooting.
- Physical ability to safely work at heights using ladders and operate within active on-site environments.
- Effective communication skills to explain system functionalities to users and collaborate with contractors.
