Role Overview
As a Category Manager for Corporate Services, you will spearhead the planning and execution of category strategies that maximize commercial value, manage risks, and align with ANZ's broader business goals. This senior position involves working closely with stakeholders and vendors to lead strategic sourcing projects, identify innovative and cost-saving initiatives, and guide the long-term vision for the corporate services categories including Property, Marketing, Media, and Data. The role is based in Wellington or Auckland, involves 37.5 working hours per week, and is permanent.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver category strategies that enhance business outcomes and commercial value.
- Manage full sourcing lifecycle including selecting suppliers, negotiating contracts, and overseeing commercial execution.
- Utilize data analytics, market insights, and supplier evaluations to uncover opportunities and promote continuous improvements.
- Proactively address commercial, operational, and supply chain risks while encouraging innovation.
- Track category performance to ensure cost savings, quality enhancements, and excellent service delivery.
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with strategic suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Provide procurement expertise and governance to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Ensure compliance with group procurement strategies and regulatory standards including BS11 and CPS230.
- Collaborate with Group Procurement Category Managers for centralized global or regional strategies and coordinate with business teams to meet strategic priorities.
- Work closely with New Zealand Outsourcing, Governance, Legal teams, and business units to ensure vendor contracts adhere to all regulatory and compliance obligations.
Candidate Profile
- Proven background in category management, strategic sourcing, or procurement roles, preferably handling Corporate Services categories such as Property or Marketing.
- Expertise in crafting and applying category strategies that yield long-term commercial benefits.
- Strong negotiation prowess with a track record of securing advantageous supplier contracts and terms.
- Competence in financial analysis, including cost model evaluation to support strategic choices.
- Experience with market and supplier research, using insights to detect trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Skillful in data analysis with capability to leverage metrics for informed procurement and category decisions.
- History of effective category spend management focused on optimizing costs, enhancing efficiency, and delivering value.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, or related fields.
- Procurement certifications like CIPS are highly desirable.
