Role Overview

The Casualty Risk Engineer will provide expert risk engineering support for Chubb's insurance operations in Australia and the Asia Pacific. Your focus will be identifying risks in casualty insurance coverages such as product liability, product recall, public liability, and premises liability. You will deliver timely risk evaluations and services to internal and external customers with a goal of supporting profitable business underwriting.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Casualty Risk Engineering Team Leader.
  • Perform risk engineering and loss prevention tasks for local and international Chubb offices following company guidelines.
  • Assess casualty risks based on third-party information, online research, communications with brokers and clients, and site surveys.
  • Provide technical assistance to underwriting teams.
  • Support management of referral cases from casualty underwriters in Australia and abroad.
  • Manage client accounts by planning and overseeing risk engineering site reviews and building strong client relationships.
  • Stay updated on loss prevention techniques, risk engineering best practices, emerging risks, and market trends.
  • Participate in projects aimed at improving processes, expanding business, or creating new risk engineering products.
  • Offer specialized technical expertise for the benefit of Chubb and its insured clients.
  • Promote Chubb Risk Engineering Services through presentations on capabilities and offerings.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in engineering or physical sciences with minimum 5 years post-graduate experience, ideally in manufacturing quality assurance, quality control, occupational health and safety, or insurance risk engineering/claims handling.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with clients, brokers, and colleagues globally.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English with good technical report writing capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel within Australia, Asia Pacific, and beyond as required.

Preferred Attributes

  • Background in insurance or risk management.
  • Knowledge of personal injury and third-party property risks related to manufacturing defects or flawed product design.
