Position Overview

Join our client's Cast Finish Department in Sheffield as a Cast Finish Operative (Straightener). This full-time, permanent role involves hands-on tasks such as straightening, buffing, and grinding cast components to meet precise dimensional requirements while upholding high standards of quality, safety, and productivity.

Compensation & Work Schedule

• Hourly wage of 3.51 plus additional shift allowance.
• Total weekly hours: 37.5.
• Shift patterns will be discussed during the interview process.
• Shift allowance percentages vary based on the shift pattern:
  • Day shifts only: no shift allowance.
  • Day and night shifts: 12.5% shift allowance.
  • Day, afternoon, and night shifts: 17% shift allowance.
  • Permanent night shifts: 25% shift allowance.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Straighten, buff, and grind cast components ensuring they meet specifications.
• Operate diverse manufacturing equipment and techniques to deliver quality output.
• Accurately record production and timekeeping details.
• Adhere strictly to health and safety protocols to maintain a secure workspace.
• Maintain cleanliness and excellent housekeeping within the working area.
• Collaborate with colleagues to meet production goals and targets.
• Ensure compliance with company quality standards and operational procedures.
• Show adaptability by assisting other departments as needed.

Training & Development Opportunities

• Comprehensive training covering:
  • Straightening tools and methods involving hammers, presses, calipers, Dial Test Indicators (DTIs), and shadowgraph devices.
  • Mount point tasks using grinding guns, linishing belts, cut-off machinery, and hand blasting tools.
  • Final inspection techniques including visual checks, water testing, gauge verifications, hardness testing, and light evaluations.
