Job description
Overview
The Cashier role is pivotal in delivering exceptional customer service by ensuring transactions are processed swiftly, accurately, and safely. Responsibilities include handling checkout and return transactions, supervising the Self-Checkout area, and actively expanding product and project knowledge to assist customers effectively while identifying sales opportunities. Adherence to company policies is essential to minimize shrinkage.
Key Responsibilities
- Process customer purchases and returns efficiently and accurately.
- Oversee and maintain the Self-Checkout stations.
- Continuously acquire product and project information to inform and assist customers and promote sales.
- Follow established policies to reduce shrinkage and prevent loss.
- In the role of Head Cashier, manage cashier positioning, expedite price checks, and approve various Point of Sale (POS) transactions including markdowns across multiple service areas such as mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
- Serve as the primary escalation point for customer concerns in the front end.
- Support coaching, supervising, and training of Front End Associates, including onboarding new Cashiers using all training resources available.
Required Qualifications
- For Head Cashiers, a minimum of one year’s experience in cashiering is preferred.
