Position Overview
The role of the Cashier is fundamental in delivering excellent customer service by ensuring transactions are handled swiftly, accurately, and securely. Cashiers process checkout and return transactions, oversee the Self-Checkout area, and demonstrate proactive product and project knowledge to aid customers and uncover sales opportunities. Adherence to company policies and procedures is crucial to minimize inventory shrinkage.
Key Responsibilities
- Efficiently manage checkout and return transactions for customers.
- Supervise and maintain the Self-Checkout zone.
- Continuously enhance product and project knowledge to better assist and advise customers, identifying opportunities for additional sales.
- Strictly follow all operational policies to reduce shrinkage.
- Support Front End Associates and new Cashiers through coaching, training, and supervision.
- For Head Cashiers: facilitate cashier positioning, expedite price verifications, approve Point of Sale transactions and markdowns across various registers and service points including mainline, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
- Serve as the initial point of escalation for customer concerns.
- Participate actively in training new Cashiers and using tools available for coaching and development.
Preferred Qualifications
Ideal candidates for the Head Cashier position have a minimum of one year of cashier experience.
