Job Overview
The position of Cashier is vital in delivering prompt, approachable, precise, and secure customer service. The role involves managing checkout and return transactions efficiently while overseeing the Self-Checkout stations. Cashiers actively expand their knowledge of products and projects to assist customers effectively and recognize opportunities to promote sales. Adherence to company policies and procedures is essential to minimize loss and ensure operational accuracy.
Key Responsibilities
- Handle checkout and return transactions smoothly and safely.
- Monitor and maintain the functionality and orderliness of Self-Checkout areas.
- Continuously acquire product and project knowledge to inform and enhance customer experience and discover sales prospects.
- Observe all protocols to reduce shrink and protect company assets.
- Support Head Cashier duties when applicable, such as coordinating Cashier activities, facilitating price verifications, authorizing Point of Sale transactions and markdowns across various departments including mainline registers, Self-Checkout, Returns, Pro Desk, Special Services, and Tool Rental.
- Serve as first-level escalation contact for customer concerns and support front-end team management by coaching and training new Cashiers using available development tools.
Preferred Qualification
Having a minimum of one year experience as a Cashier is advantageous for those aspiring to the Head Cashier role.
