Role Overview

This full-time, on-site Carpenter role based in Lusaka involves the construction, installation, and repair of wooden and associated structures for various company projects. Key tasks include framing, formwork, and finish carpentry activities. Daily duties consist of reading and interpreting project drawings, accurate measurement and cutting of materials, assembling structures, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality requirements. The position requires frequent use of both hand and power tools, collaboration with supervisors and other tradespeople, and maintaining tools and workplace order. Following health and safety protocols and contributing to the improvement of construction methods are also important responsibilities.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Possess solid foundational carpentry skills encompassing structural carpentry and general construction tasks.
  • Proficiency in framing and basic building layout, including precise measuring, cutting, and assembly of structural components.
  • Hands-on experience with hand tools for the safe and efficient cutting, shaping, and assembly of materials.
  • Competent in operating power tools such as saws and drills, focusing on accuracy and safety.
  • Skills in finish carpentry including installing doors, windows, trims, and other detailed woodwork.
  • Relevant trade certification, apprenticeship completion, or vocational training in carpentry is preferred.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications is advantageous.
  • A keen understanding of workplace safety practices, including use of personal protective equipment.
  • Good physical endurance, manual dexterity, and capability to work on-site under varying environmental conditions.
  • Effective communication, teamwork, and time management skills essential for meeting project deadlines.
