Carpenter

Job Overview

The carpenter is responsible for building, assembling, and repairing wooden structures and fixtures, including concrete forms, frameworks like partitions, joists, studs, rafters, and wood staircases with handrails.

Primary Duties

• Prepare centers and furring strips required for crowns and brick arches.
• Accurately estimate dimensions such as height, width, and length for projects.
• Select appropriate materials for construction tasks.
• Follow blueprints or detailed instructions from supervisors.
• Work with materials including wood and plastics.
• Use various handheld and powered tools to assemble or repair structures.
• Join components using nails, screws, staples, or adhesives.
• Apply leveling and measuring instruments like levels, rules, plumb bobs, framing squares, and surveying tools to ensure precise and stable construction.
• Construct temporary stairs, handrails, barricades, and signage as needed.
• Build forms for concrete pouring and erect scaffolding.
• Construct tunnel bracing and concrete forms for ongoing construction projects.
• Safely move and install machinery in the work area.
