Job description
Position Summary
This role involves attending and responding promptly to guest maintenance requests while effectively communicating with guests and customers to resolve issues. Responsibilities include conducting preventive maintenance on tools, kitchen, and mechanical equipment through cleaning and lubrication, performing visual inspections on machinery and tools, and managing maintenance inventory with requisitions as required.
The carpenter will operate shut-off valves for equipment and utilities within the building, document daily activities and issues for shift communication, and demonstrate foundational knowledge or a willingness to learn various systems such as air conditioning, refrigeration, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, pneumatic/electronic controls, carpentry, kitchen equipment, vehicles, and energy conservation.
Responsibilities
Tasks include surface preparation, painting, minor drywall and wood trim repairs, replacement of light bulbs and air conditioning filters, and thorough cleanup post-repairs. Candidates will test and troubleshoot electrical components, plumbing fixtures, vacuum cleaners, internet devices, and other guestroom items, as well as reprogram televisions and conduct housekeeping and engineering inventory duties.
The role requires adherence to safety protocols including using the Lockout/Tagout system before maintenance work. Furthermore, duties include landscaping repairs and maintenance of sprinkler systems. Basic computer skills such as managing air handler schedules and adjusting temperatures are necessary.

The position expects the employee to greet guests warmly, anticipate service needs, assist individuals with disabilities, and promote a quality and team-oriented work environment. Physical demands include carrying objects up to 50 pounds unaided, using stairs, ramps, and ladders, and physical movements such as bending and stooping.
Qualifications
Preferred qualifications consist of a high school diploma or equivalent and some prior experience in general maintenance including interior and exterior surface preparation and painting. Experience in hotel engineering or maintenance is advantageous. No supervisory experience is needed.
A valid driver’s license is required.
