Caretaker - School Facilities Maintenance

About the Role

We are seeking dedicated caretakers to work full-time across school sites in Walsall and Wolverhampton. This position offers a temporary-to-permanent contract with a starting pay rate of 12.71 per hour, Monday through Friday. The role involves general upkeep of the school premises including handling basic repairs and managing delivery bookings. Key responsibilities also include opening and securing school buildings, holding keys, and performing maintenance to ensure a safe environment. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in caretaker or maintenance roles, hold a fully Enhanced DBS clearance, and demonstrate reliability and strong communication skills. The ability to work independently with responsibility is essential. This opportunity is ideal for someone who takes pride in maintaining safe and well-kept school facilities.

Responsibilities

• Maintain general cleanliness and upkeep of school sites
• Perform basic repairs and maintenance tasks
• Manage the booking and receipt of school deliveries
• Open and secure school premises each day
• Hold keys and be responsible for site security
• Ensure the safety and proper maintenance of facilities

Requirements

• Previous experience as a caretaker
• Experience in maintenance work
• Possession of a fully Enhanced DBS clearance
• Dependable and responsible attitude
• Effective communication skills
• Capability to work independently without direct supervision
