Job description
Role Overview
The Food and Beverage Captain will coordinate service needs with kitchen and waiter teams during events, ensure availability and proper arrangement of banquet halls, restaurants, and coffee break areas, and verify cleanliness and presentation of tableware before use. They will monitor guest satisfaction, manage special food requests, and maintain cleanliness of work areas throughout the day.
Key Responsibilities
- Communicate service requirements to chefs and waitstaff throughout event receptions.
- Calculate and compile group event charges and prepare payment checks for group contacts.
- Ensure banquet rooms, dining areas, and coffee break stations are ready and accessible for service.
- Verify the placement of centerpieces on each table.
- Inspect porcelain, glassware, and silverware for cleanliness and presentation prior to use.
- Confirm guest satisfaction during service.
- Arrange tables according to event type and service standards.
- Relate any extra food orders, allergies, dietary needs, or special requests to the kitchen team.
- Maintain cleanliness of workstations throughout the day.
- Adhere to all company safety policies; report maintenance issues, hazards, accidents, or injuries; complete required safety training and certifications.
- Maintain a professional and neat uniform and personal appearance.
- Protect company proprietary information and assets.
- Support colleagues respectfully and assist the team in achieving common goals.
- Meet quality assurance expectations and standards.
- Welcome and acknowledge guests following company guidelines.
- Communicate clearly and professionally; respond to telephone calls with appropriate etiquette.
- Listen to and address concerns from other employees appropriately.
- Perform other reasonable tasks as requested by supervisors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Completion of secondary education or equivalent General Educational Development (GED) certification.
- Minimum of 2 years relevant experience in a similar role.
- At least 1 year of supervisory experience.
- No specific licenses or certifications required.
