Technical Skills and Experience
- Proficient in installation of Heat Shrink, Cold Shrink, and Pre-Moulded cable joints and terminations.
- Experience handling XLPE and PILC cable systems.
- Competent in fitting and commissioning straight joints, separable connectors, and both outdoor and indoor terminations for medium-voltage cable networks.
- Skilled in cable preparation processes including connector crimping, earthing systems, stress control techniques, insulation reconstruction, sealing, and finalizing installations.
Project and Site Expertise
- Experienced in on-site installation, commissioning, and overseeing cable accessory projects.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with utilities, consultants, contractors, and end users during project phases.
- Familiar with medium-voltage distribution network installation protocols and utility standards.
Testing and Commissioning Knowledge
- Hands-on knowledge of field testing procedures such as Insulation Resistance Testing, AC High Voltage Testing (VLF/AC Withstand), Partial Discharge Test, Sheath Integrity Test, Continuity and Earth Resistance Tests, Phase Identification, and additional cable testing protocols.
- Understanding commissioning protocols prior to cable energization and maintaining comprehensive testing and commissioning documentation.
Additional Competencies
- Capability to identify and resolve issues related to installation and commissioning of cable accessories.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
Responsibilities
The role involves supporting the installation and commissioning of medium-voltage cable accessories, troubleshooting on-site problems, conducting customer demonstrations, and providing technical support.
