Role Summary
The Carpenter will handle all carpentry-related tasks within the hotel, including repair, installation, and maintenance of woodwork and furniture across guest rooms, public zones, restaurants, offices, and back-of-house areas to ensure a safe and luxurious environment for guests and staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct preventive and corrective maintenance on all wood-related fixtures and fittings throughout the establishment.
- Install, maintain, and repair wooden doors, frames, windows, wardrobes, shelving, furniture, and various fixtures.
- Perform furniture restoration and minor upholstery repairs as needed.
- Install or fix locks, hinges, handles, door closers, and similar hardware components.
- Repair damaged wooden partitions, skirting boards, ceiling panels, and decorative surfaces.
- Respond efficiently to maintenance requests in guest areas and public spaces.
- Interpret technical blueprints, maintenance schedules, and work orders to execute tasks accurately.
- Keep carpentry tools and the workspace clean, secure, and well-maintained.
- Manage material consumption and communicate stock requirements to the Engineering Supervisor.
- Collaborate with the broader Engineering team during renovation and preventive maintenance projects.
- Ensure all carpentry work meets hotel standards, complies with applicable laws, and follows health and safety regulations.
- Work professionally to minimize inconvenience to guests during maintenance activities.
- Document completed tasks accurately using the hotel's maintenance management software.
- Assist in emergency repairs and perform additional duties as assigned by Engineering Management.
Candidate Profile
- At least two years of experience as a Carpenter, with preference for those having worked in luxury hotels or hospitality settings.
- Solid understanding of woodworking methods, building upkeep, and safe use of carpentry tools.
- Competence in reading technical drawings and proficient operation of power and manual tools.
- Basic skills in painting, polishing, and finishing techniques are beneficial.
- Effective communication skills in English.
