Job description
Overview
This role involves managing procurement and sourcing activities within a defined spend category to ensure the acquisition of goods and services adheres to specified quality, delivery schedules, and budget constraints. The position emphasizes developing and sustaining vendor partnerships while negotiating favorable pricing.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement strategic sourcing initiatives aligned with organizational and business unit plans.
- Review purchase requisitions for accuracy and completeness; support determination of procurement method suited to materials or services and urgency.
- Lead strategic sourcing for Capital Expenditure (Capex), Operational Expenditure (Opex), bulk materials, and services by facilitating bidding processes, vendor evaluation, and selection.
- Prepare vendor documents including Requests for Information (RFI), Requests for Proposal (RFP), and organize pre-bid meetings to address vendor queries.
- Evaluate technical and commercial vendor bids and drive negotiations to finalize suppliers.
- Draft and manage contracts per company standards, record contracts in ERP systems, maintain documentation, and ensure vendor and stakeholder communication.
- Issue and manage procurement under rate contracts and oversee order placements.
- Coordinate onboarding of new suppliers, conduct vendor evaluation in consultation with cross-functional teams, and maintain approved vendor lists with SAP integration.
- Assist in vendor performance management including segmentation, evaluation, communication of feedback, and performance improvement planning.
- Support data collation and analytics for category-specific procurement activities to identify process improvements and value opportunities.
- Ensure compliance with Kronos terms in work orders for contractors and manage renewals.
- Participate in identifying, evaluating, and mitigating procurement risks with updated risk registers.
- Foster team collaboration, resolve conflicts, maintain effective stakeholder communication, and identify training needs for team development.
Technical Competencies
- Financial acumen and cost estimation capabilities
- Understanding of life cycle management and risk management principles
- Familiarity with regulatory policies, domain networking, and technology innovation including digitization
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, economics, finance, operations, engineering, or related field.
- At least 10 years of relevant procurement experience.
- A minimum of 5 years in roles involving purchasing management, commodity management, or buying.
- Proficiency with eProcurement systems such as SAP, contract management tools, reverse auctions, and financial reporting tools.
- Hands-on experience managing contracts and commercial transactions for capital goods in medium to large Power or Infrastructure projects.
- Exposure to estimation and cost engineering is desirable.
