Role Overview
The Buyer Direct position, based in Dundalk, Ireland and reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, is responsible for managing the procurement of direct materials, components, and equipment essential for production.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the entire procurement process for designated product groups, ensuring timely order placement, delivery, and finalization.
- Meet key performance indicators (KPIs) while supporting inventory targets, collaborating with departments including Production, Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse to achieve company objectives.
- Maintain material availability by sourcing raw materials, components, and packaging aligned with production schedules, master production schedule (MPS), and business demands.
- Promote uninterrupted production through proactive planning, managing material needs, and swiftly addressing supply limitations.
- Communicate clear updates on demand and order schedules to suppliers.
- Manage supplier performance by expediting or de-expediting orders, tracking delivery commitments, and mitigating supply risks.
- Build and nurture strong supplier relationships to enhance communication, responsiveness, continuous improvement, and service quality.
- Ensure accuracy of procurement data related to Material Requirements Planning (MRP), identifying necessary changes and coordinating updates with master data owners.
Required Skills and Experience
- Currently studying IIPMM or APICS certification.
- Degree-level education in Business, Procurement, or equivalent experience.
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Experience using ERP systems.
- Ability to work collaboratively or independently while managing multiple tasks.
- Strong numerical and analytical capabilities.
- Solid understanding of Material Requirements Planning (MRP).
- Eligibility to work in Ireland (EU).
