Business Development Manager - Oil & Gas

Role Overview

This position focuses on advancing cloud technology integration within the energy sector, specifically targeting leading energy organizations across the Middle East to drive digital modernization and transformation efforts.

The Middle East is home to some of the most sizeable and technically complex energy operations globally, including national oil companies, refining and petrochemical complexes, LNG export facilities, and extensive pipeline systems. These entities are investing heavily in digital innovation and require partners who fully comprehend the energy value chain.

Job Responsibilities

• Craft and lead a regional business strategy focused on the energy sector, emphasizing data and AI to enhance operational insights and efficiencies.
• Collaborate with AWS account teams, technology vendors, and systems integrators to create tailored solutions that address operational challenges across exploration, refining, petrochemicals, pipelines, and LNG sectors.
• Develop technical reference content and architectures rooted in operational use cases like reservoir modeling, turnaround planning, process control, and pipeline integrity.
• Engage senior engineering and digital transformation leaders to assist with strategic build-versus-buy decisions.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities autonomously, managing the full sales cycle from initial contact through contract signing.
• Mentor colleagues, enhance partner expertise, and disseminate domain knowledge to strengthen the AWS Energy team’s market effectiveness.

Key Daily Activities

• Source and qualify prospective energy clients in the Middle East, aligning sales activities with regional priorities.
• Establish advisory relationships with senior executives to promote AWS as the preferred platform.
• Design and deliver technical workshops, demonstrations, and presentations on topics such as OSDU, digital twins, industrial IoT, and advanced process control.
• Collaborate with specialists and partners to accelerate clients' cloud adoption and ensure measurable outcomes.
• Maintain a detailed opportunity pipeline and provide accurate progress reports to leadership.
• Represent AWS Energy at regional industry forums, conferences, and high-level briefings.

Team Description

The AWS Energy team partners with leading energy companies worldwide to foster digital transformation across the energy value chain, focusing on delivering practical solutions through collaboration with partners and systems integrators. The midstream and downstream segments present significant expansion potential.

Candidate Profile

• Minimum of five years developing and negotiating business agreements.
• Five or more years solving technical challenges within the energy and utilities sectors.
• Five-plus years of professional or military experience including roles in go-to-market strategy, business development, sales, or consulting.
• Proven capability in presenting complex technical information to diverse audiences and influencing executive-level decisions.
• Experience with Data & AI technologies (including AI/ML, Generative AI, analytics, databases, storage) and advanced computing technologies (such as accelerated compute, HPC, visual/spatial compute, IoT).
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree in related fields preferred.
• Ability to analyze data and provide business insights is an advantage.
