About the Role
Join Gartner's Business Development team, a key force in expanding our impact worldwide. In this position, you will develop and nurture trust-based relationships with C-level leaders to identify their key business priorities and discover opportunities for delivering impactful client value tailored to their industry. You will be responsible for managing the complete sales cycle from lead identification to closing deals, subsequently handing over new clients to the account management team for sustained engagement.
Our Business Developers focus on establishing long-term, value-driven relationships that grow their portfolio continuously. Success in this role requires being client-focused, results-oriented, and collaborative.
You will be assigned a territory consisting of Large Enterprise prospects, either brand-new prospects with no prior Gartner engagement or existing clients from other divisions. In the End-User Large Enterprise sector, prospects have over $1 billion in annual revenue; in the Technology Vendor Large Enterprise sector, prospects exceed $500 million in annual revenue.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities across your assigned territory by directly engaging Large Enterprise C-Level executives from initial contact through deal closure.
- Convert promising prospects into active Gartner clients by leading the entire sales dialogue, negotiation, and transition to account management.
- Provide a tailored mix of insights, guidance, and actionable tools to enhance client partnerships.
- Continuously generate a robust sales pipeline to meet or exceed your key performance indicators.
- Take full quota accountability for your designated territory.
- Navigate and manage complex, high-value sales processes across diverse organizational structures.
- Prepare and maintain accurate sales forecasts and account plans on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.
Qualifications and Experience
- A minimum of five years in B2B sales, especially in complex and intangible product sales environments.
- Proven experience in business development or acquiring new clients in sales roles is highly advantageous.
- Demonstrated success influencing and selling to C-level executives.
- Track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets.
- Strong skills in managing and forecasting multifaceted sales processes.
- Willingness to travel as business needs require.
- Bachelor’s degree is preferred.

The firm encourages internal promotions and offers a variety of progression paths including Business Development Director, Team Lead, and Sales Manager roles. Many leadership positions are filled internally, reflecting our commitment to growing talent from within.
Benefits and Perks
- Competitive salary package paired with an uncapped commission plan.
- Generous paid time off and a charity matching program.
