Role Overview and Responsibilities
As part of the Business Growth Services team, this role directly engages with Kenyan micro and small entrepreneurs to foster community prosperity.
Client Mobilization (10%)
- Identify and recruit entrepreneurs who meet program criteria
- Effectively communicate program information and confirm understanding among community participants
- Act as an Inkomoko Ambassador, collaborating with existing community structures
- Advise on participant suitability based on cultural and business context
- Report participant-related challenges to Inkomoko leadership
Training Delivery (40%)
- Ensure comprehensive participation and communication regarding all training programs
- Manage training logistics including material preparation, venue setup, attendance recording, and timely session starts
- Conduct trainings utilizing Inkomoko materials in Somali, Kiswahili, and English
- Recommend improvements to training modules to senior trainers
- Complete training within scheduled timeframes and budget constraints
Business Consulting and Client Relationship Management (40%)
- Manage entrepreneur intake processes, baseline monitoring & evaluation, and data entry in electronic systems
- Conduct monthly visits to assess business needs and growth opportunities
- Assist clients with preparing cash flow and profitability analyses
- Provide informed, practical advice aimed at achieving sustainable, profitable business objectives
- Offer real-time advisory support through regular site visits
- Facilitate client connections with additional Inkomoko services such as training and financing
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date client business records
- Support investment colleagues with client application processing, due diligence, and credit payment follow-up
Community Activities Coordination and Administration (10%)
- Build and nurture relationships with local partners and authorities in Garissa
- Submit weekly and monthly reports punctually
- Represent Inkomoko in Garissa community and business forums
- Collaborate with senior staff to organize local community initiatives
- Support internal county communications and timely execution of community activities
- Assist monitoring & evaluation teams with surveys and data gathering
- Provide additional administrative assistance as required
- Undertake further duties as assigned
Candidate Requirements
- Proficiency in basic IT applications including Microsoft Office, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Strong interpersonal abilities including coaching, attentive listening, empathy, and building trust
- Fluency and strong communication skills in English, Swahili, with Somali preferred
- Foundational knowledge and interest in micro and small enterprises
- Self-motivated with initiative and quick learning aptitude
- Robust financial and accounting skills with awareness of Kenyan business financial practices
- Adaptability and performance under pressure
- Excellent written and verbal communication capabilities
- Demonstrate perseverance, integrity, and analytical thinking
- Outgoing, sociable, honest, and professional demeanor
- University degree or current pursuit in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or related fields
- Residency in Garissa or nearby
- Access to a smartphone continuously is an advantage
- Not currently employed by another organization
