Team Overview

The Enterprise Planning and Implementation group, recently formed, focuses on enhancing planning, coordination, and execution across WorkSafe, primarily improving prioritization, sequencing and support to achieve successful delivery. The Business Design Services team within this group contributes by creating practical and effective services, processes, and workflows. Collaborating with planners, designers, subject matter experts, and leadership, they support initiatives that advance service delivery for New Zealanders.

Role Summary

As a Business Analyst, your role is critical in addressing complex business issues and enhancing operational methods. You will engage in multiple projects centered on business design, services, process improvements, and changes to operating models. Applying thorough analysis, stakeholder involvement, and critical thinking, you will pinpoint opportunities that lead to meaningful improvements in how WorkSafe functions.

Your efforts will be guided by a pragmatic regulatory perspective to ensure that design decisions are credible, based on evidence, and in keeping with WorkSafe's role as New Zealand's key workplace safety regulator.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate current business processes and discover areas for enhancement.
  • Lead workshops, interviews, and exploratory activities to gather insights.
  • Collect and consolidate information from a range of stakeholders.
  • Create detailed process maps, define requirements, and assess impacts.
  • Identify potential risks, dependencies, and factors relevant to implementation.
  • Partner with teams to develop effective and practical business solutions.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Proven competence in business analysis across processes, service models, and operational practices aimed at identifying issues and recommending improvements.
  • Ability to distill complex data into straightforward, actionable recommendations.
  • Expertise in gathering and integrating stakeholder information effectively.
  • Confidence and experience in facilitating collaborative sessions such as workshops and discovery meetings.
  • Strong skills in documenting requirements, evaluating impacts, and designing future state solutions.
  • Capacity to build relationships and exert influence across multifaceted teams.
  • Experience in a public sector context with complex stakeholder and governance environments is advantageous.

Remuneration and Benefits

The salary range for this role is NZD 83,137 to 108,442 annually, with an anticipated starting salary between NZD 83,137 and 91,571. Additional KiwiSaver/SSRSS employer contributions apply, increasing to 3.5% from April 2026.

There are two permanent full-time positions available, which can be located at any WorkSafe office in New Zealand. Candidates must have the legal right to live and work in New Zealand.
