Role Overview

We seek a Building Surveyor to enhance our Auckland team. This position offers a chance to expand your professional capabilities within a premier consultancy, working on varied tasks like building inspections, technical due diligence, defect analysis, maintenance scheduling, insurance evaluations, and project oversight.

You will manage projects autonomously, cultivate trusted relationships with clients, and refine your technical skills with guidance from seasoned professionals committed to your career advancement.

Key Duties

• Conduct comprehensive building surveys including condition checks, due diligence, measured surveys, access audits, and compliance assessments.
• Produce detailed technical reports, schedules, and client documentation of high quality.
• Perform defect investigations, maintenance planning, and related assessments.
• Assist in insurance evaluations, reinstatement assignments, and claims processes.
• Support project management activities such as contract administration, procurement, and coordination.
• Oversee site construction progress through monitoring and reporting.
• Engage in client consultations providing technical insights and recommendations.
• Communicate effectively with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulators.
• Contribute to business development and strengthening client partnerships.
• Foster a team culture promoting technical excellence and client-focused outcomes.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree in Building Surveying, Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or a closely related field.
• Approximately 2 to 4 years of experience in building surveying, consultancy, construction, or property sectors.
• Practical understanding of construction techniques, building pathology, and maintenance principles.
• Familiarity with New Zealand building legislation, standards, and codes.
• Capability to conduct inspections and prepare reports independently.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills with the ability to juggle competing demands.
• Proactive, client-oriented mindset with a collaborative team approach.
• Interest or progress towards NZIBS and RICS accreditation.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
• Possession of a valid New Zealand driver’s license.
