Job description
Job Overview and Key Responsibilities
The BTEC IT Teacher is expected to develop lesson plans ahead of time and share these with relevant academic supervisors. Preparation and organization of class materials are essential. The role involves achieving goals set in general annual plans, maintaining updated grade books, and submitting grades punctually at evaluation milestones.
The position includes designing monthly topic assessments and grading all assigned student work. The classroom environment should be actively maintained with educational and thematic decorations. Additionally, duties include playground supervision and collaborating with the Psychology Department to support students facing academic or behavioral challenges.
Supporting students with special needs or gifted learners by working closely with the Academic Coordinator and psychologist is a crucial aspect of the role. Attendance at staff meetings, workshops, parent interactions, and other school functions is mandatory, alongside adhering strictly to work schedules that vary by grade.
This role also involves mediating student issues by liaising with the psychologist, organizing community service and fundraising events, coordinating student participation in fairs, and maintaining regular communication with parents and guardians when necessary.
Administrative responsibilities include managing attendance records, compiling assignment portfolios per evaluation criteria, monitoring homework systems, and encouraging active student involvement in subcommittees to foster teamwork and engagement.
Skills, Qualifications, and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Education, Psychology, or a related discipline is required.
- A Master's degree is preferable.
- Minimum of two years teaching experience in the education sector.
- Competency in digital tools and an intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Ability to teach ICT and Computer Science up to A Level is considered advantageous.
- Advanced English fluency in speaking, reading, and writing is essential.
