Primary Responsibilities
- Provide support across the entire bookkeeping process for clients.
- Handle preparation and management of payroll and associated government remittances and filings.
- Record transactions including sales, accounts receivable, expenses, accounts payable, payroll, and Workers' Compensation Board (WCB) entries.
- Set up new client files and assist with budgeting and administrative planning activities.
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts such as cash, bank statements, prepaid expenses, receivables, payables, accrued liabilities, intercompany accounts, and point of sale/system uploads.
- Identify and investigate discrepancies or errors, collaborating with supervisors or engagement partners to find solutions.
- Communicate directly with government agencies concerning information inquiries, assessments, and installment payments.
- Foster collaborative relationships with clients and internal teams.
Required Skills and Experience
- Possession of a certificate or diploma in business administration or accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Having at least one year of experience in full cycle bookkeeping is considered beneficial but not required.
- Basic familiarity with accounting principles and bookkeeping processes is a plus, though not essential.
- Awareness of sales taxes (GST, PST, HST), payroll tax regulations, and corporate tax matters adds value, but is not obligatory.
- Experience with desktop bookkeeping software is an advantage but not required.
