About the Role
Join a dynamic and innovative Tax team where you can make a significant impact as an Accountant. This professional team crafts tailored tax strategies within a complex, evolving regulatory landscape. As a key advisor, you'll create compliance-driven solutions that reduce risks, enhance efficiencies, and optimize returns for clients. Key Responsibilities
- Assist with tax engagements by calculating taxes owed, preparing personal and corporate tax returns and related compliance documents, completing year-end tax forms such as T4s and T5s, and reviewing share capital calculations.
- Organize files for new clients and newly formed companies.
- Review legal documents including articles of incorporation, purchase agreements, and amalgamation agreements.
- Assess existing business policies and processes, advising on policy and tax changes; develop proactive tax strategies that leverage opportunities to enhance business running efficiency.
- Detect discrepancies and errors, investigate issues, and collaborate with managers or partners to resolve them.
- Engage with clients and government bodies to resolve tax compliance inquiries.
- Assist in drafting correspondence, technical reports, client summaries, and presentations detailing engagement outcomes.
- Work closely with engagement teams and establish strong client relationships.
- Contribute new ideas to improve work processes and maintain adaptability for necessary travel.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in commerce or business administration with a focus on accounting or finance preferred.
- Currently enrolled in the CPA Professional Education Program (PEP).
- 1 to 2 years of relevant experience in public accounting or tax services.
- Familiarity with the Canadian Income Tax Act.
- Preferred experience with accounting and tax software.
