Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced BIM Lead to manage and enhance our BIM team's capabilities while ensuring high-quality model and drawing delivery. The role involves overseeing a group of over 10 BIM modellers and coordinators, steering workload distribution, and leading quality assurance processes to guarantee project standards. A critical part of the role is mentoring and advancing team members' skills and managing their performance effectively. The BIM Lead will also be expected to engage proactively with engineers, consultants, and project teams, leading meetings and presentations with clarity and confidence.
BIM Management and Governance
The successful candidate will manage BIM governance by implementing BIM Execution Plans (BEP), adhering to ISO 19650 standards, and utilizing Common Data Environments such as ACC and BIM 360. Responsibilities include coordinating federated models, managing BIM standards, templates, workflows, and understanding project information delivery plans (MIDP/TIDP), levels of detail (LOD), and levels of information (LOI). Developing clash detection strategies, conducting model audits, compliance checks, and managing digital handovers and as-built models are also vital. Knowledge of COBie and asset information is advantageous but not mandatory.
Technical BIM Skills
The role requires proficiency in Revit MEP, Navisworks Manage, AutoCAD and AutoCAD MEP, Revit Fabrication and Fabrication CADmep. Experience with AutoCAD Plant 3D is highly beneficial. Familiarity with BIM 360 and Autodesk Construction Cloud platforms is important, alongside the use of tools like Revizto and Bluebeam. Working knowledge of Dynamo and automation methods, as well as 4D and 5D BIM, is considered an asset but is not essential.
MEP and Industrial Technical Expertise
Applicants should have solid understanding and experience in HVAC systems, plumbing and public health engineering (PHE), fire protection and firefighting systems, and mechanical piping. Knowledge of plant rooms, equipment layout planning, pipe routing, supports, and development of shop, spool, isometric, and hanger layout drawings is required. The role includes generating bills of quantities (BOQ/BOM), performing quantity take-offs, preparing as-built documentation, and coordinating closely with site and installation teams.
Preferred Industry Experience
Exposure to sectors such as industrial refrigeration, cold storage and food production facilities, HVACR, data centre infrastructure, and process piping will be highly valued.
