The BIM Coordinator will manage multidisciplinary model coordination, develop MEP construction information, and maintain drawing and delivery controls from design review through to construction and handover phases. This role ensures issues in coordination are addressed, deliverables comply with project demands, and current site data is accurately reflected in record models, drawings, and asset information.
Reporting to the BIM Manager, this position collaborates closely with internal BIM, Engineering, Project, and Site teams, as well as with clients, design specialists, and contractors.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and update project models, drawings, and related BIM data within company and project Common Data Environments (CDEs), maintaining accuracy, control, and auditability.
- Conduct clash detection, handle coordination conflicts, and drive issue resolution through project close-out.
- Review BIM documentation and design inputs to detect missing or conflicting elements, escalating concerns as necessary.
- Create and coordinate fabrication deliverables consistent with procurement and installation requisites.
- Collaborate with Engineering, Project, Site, Design, and specialist teams to address coordination challenges.
- Apply project-specific BIM standards, Designer Group QA protocols, naming conventions, and information management controls.
- Utilize Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for sharing, publishing models, issue tracking, and enhancing coordination efforts.
- Maintain drawing registers, exchange records, action item logs, and workflow schedules.
- Mentor junior BIM personnel by reviewing their outputs for quality and compliance.
- Incorporate site surveys, redlines, point clouds, and other verification data to update models and drawings reflecting as-built conditions.
- Assist the preparation and handover of record models, drawings, and asset documentation.
Candidate Requirements
- Relevant qualification in BIM, Engineering, Building Services, Construction, or equivalent industry experience/trade background.
- At least three years’ experience in BIM coordination, MEP coordination, or BIM modeling roles.
- Comprehensive understanding of MEP systems, service coordination, construction sequencing, specialist interfaces, builders’ requirements, and installation methods.
- Proficiency with Revit MEP and Navisworks for model creation, federation, clash detection, and resolving issues.
- Proven track record in producing coordinated MEP construction and installation drawings derived from Revit models.
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650 standards, project BIM documentation, and information management requirements.
- Experience creating and coordinating fabrication drawings, assemblies, and secondary supports in line with project specifications.
- Practical familiarity with Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) for collaboration, coordination, and issue management.
- Experience contributing to development of record models, drawings, and asset documentation at handover stages.
- Background supporting live construction projects with coordination, installation, commissioning, and handover involvement.
- Willingness to attend on-site locations and operate in active project environments to support coordination, verification, and delivery activities.
