BIM Coordinator

Position Summary

The BIM Coordinator acts as a pivotal member of the design team, responsible for managing and overseeing the development of digital models and comprehensive project information from the design phase through to construction. This role ensures seamless integration of data across various disciplines, following ISO19650 standards, and addresses potential issues in modeling, clash detection, and data interoperability effectively. As the primary point of contact for BIM workflows, the Coordinator sets project-specific guidelines and maintains up-to-date federated models highlighting any interdisciplinary clashes.

Key Responsibilities

• Implement general BIM procedures established by the BIM Manager throughout project delivery.
• Develop BIM execution plans and tailor project-specific training materials.
• Enforce adherence to BIM execution plans during project progression.
• Configure linked models and orchestrate coordination between multiple disciplines.
• Provide expert technical guidance and mentoring using BIM authoring tools to support the project team.
• Maintain and manage project content while sourcing additional resources as necessary.
• Communicate changes in procedures and standards efficiently to ensure compliance by project teams.
• Oversee BIM project data workflows and setup processes.
• Facilitate effective communication and collaborative support across teams.
• Perform regular maintenance and administration of models.
• Organize and moderate recurring BIM coordination meetings across all disciplines.
• Strategically manage technical and human resources for optimized project execution.
• Utilize strong negotiation skills to set project terms beneficially.
• Lead BIM use cases including clash and clearance checks, 4D simulation, issue management, visualizations, and asset management.
• Take responsibility for hardware integration tasks involving RTDS, Factory Acceptance Tests, client meetings, site testing, and documentation of test records.

Candidate Profile

• Holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical, civil, or mechanical engineering with proficiency in BIM processes and methodologies.
• Brings 8 to 12 years of professional experience in BIM coordination, particularly within Power Grids, FACTS, AIS, GIS, or AEC sectors.
• Possesses deep knowledge of BIM methodologies, workflows, and the ISO 19650 framework.
• Skilled at interpreting and enforcing BIM Execution Plans.
• Expertise in multi-disciplinary model coordination and federation.
• Experienced in clash detection, clearance verification, and problem identification.
• Proficient with Revit, Navisworks, Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC) / BIM 360 platforms.
• Well-versed in Common Data Environment (CDE) operations, including Work In Progress (WIP), Shared, and Published states.
• Experienced in managing BIM issue tracking, reporting, and subsequent follow-ups via ACC.
• Capable of leading BIM coordination sessions and driving resolution of interdisciplinary issues.
• Exceptional communication skills for effective stakeholder engagement across disciplines.
• Strong organizational abilities to manage frequent updates and maintenance of models.
• Attention to detail and disciplined adherence to procedures.
• Ability to mentor BIM modelers and provide technical assistance.
• Solid understanding of discipline dependencies and their interfaces.
• Preferably experienced in BIM-driven 4D simulations, visualizations, and asset management support.
• Must demonstrate proficiency in English, both spoken and written.
