Job description

Position Overview

An established international architectural firm based in Newcastle is seeking a skilled Bid Writer to lead the creation of high-profile bids for UK and international projects. This role involves collaborating closely with Partners, architects, technical teams, and a dedicated in-house Graphic Designer to craft compelling, client-centered submissions across diverse sectors including sport and leisure, residential, commercial, education, civic, and mixed-use developments.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Oversee all stages of bids and tender submissions from discovery to final submission.
  • Create persuasive written content tailored for UK and international clients.
  • Analyze tender documents to determine requirements, deadlines, and compliance criteria.
  • Formulate strategic approaches for bids, emphasizing win themes and key messaging.
  • Coordinate contributions from architects, technical experts, and senior leadership.
  • Handle multiple live bid submissions concurrently.
  • Manage bid portals and track potential new opportunities.
  • Edit and proofread technical documents to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Maintain comprehensive bid libraries, tracking systems, and standard company information.
  • Assist in refining bid-related processes, systems, and technological tools.

Candidate Requirements

  • At least three years’ experience in bid writing, bid management, proposal development, or a similar capacity.
  • Preferred background in architecture, construction, property, engineering, or related built environment fields.
  • Demonstrated success managing competitive tenders from planning to submission phases.
  • Exceptional command of written English, including grammar, editing, and proofreading.
  • Strong ability to translate technical details into engaging, client-oriented narratives.
  • Excellent organizational aptitude and capacity to handle multiple deadlines effectively.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint; familiarity with Adobe InDesign is a plus.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and solid stakeholder management skills.
