Role Overview
The Bid Manager is instrumental in advancing business growth by supporting the entire sales cycle to secure profitable and effectively managed bids. Situated within the Infrastructure Products Bids team, you will handle significant bid opportunities, ensuring proposals are targeted, feasible, clearly communicated, and commercially sound.
You will build and maintain necessary relationships, driving bid activities across the company during the sales process. This role is accountable for producing high-quality, customer-centric proposals that strike a balance between cost and value and making sure the bid team is adequately staffed and organized to create winning submissions.
Key Responsibilities
- Direct virtual teams to respond to complex tenders and major proposals like EOIs, RFIs, RFQs, and RFPs.
- Provide mentorship to junior colleagues, encourage continuous improvement, and promote best practices.
- Ensure all opportunities undergo proper qualification, risk evaluation, and review.
- Manage the entire proposal process, including gathering content and coordinating internal reviews.
- Deliver frequent status reports to business stakeholders alongside the opportunity owner.
- Oversee commercial and quality assessments, confirming all business and delivery stakeholders endorse the solution and costs.
- Develop collaborative relationships with stakeholders and contributors.
- Continuously expand a repository of best practice materials for proposal development.
- Maintain a proposal toolkit to ensure compliance with company standards.
Qualifications and Skills
- Comprehensive knowledge of IT services and the related industry landscape.
- Expertise in bid and proposal methodologies and practices.
- Proven leadership abilities with strong reporting skills.
- Effective time management with the capability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Excellent verbal and written communication with analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
- Exceptional negotiation and influence skills to secure internal support across virtual teams.
- Familiarity with financial management principles.
- Strong aptitude for building and managing stakeholder relationships.
- Confidence and experience in utilizing AI tools for proposal creation.
- Creativity and attention to detail are advantageous.
