Job description
Role Overview
The BI Manager is charged with spearheading business intelligence initiatives including data analytics, reporting, visualization, and fostering data-informed decision-making throughout the organization. This leadership role involves shaping BI strategy, managing analytical platforms, dashboards, data models, and generating insights that enable management to monitor performance, uncover opportunities, mitigate risks, and enhance business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement BI strategies aligned with the company’s goals.
- Oversee BI projects including roadmaps, priorities, resource allocation, and delivery timelines.
- Lead the creation and deployment of dashboards, reports, scorecards, KPIs, and analytical tools.
- Convert business needs into effective analytical and data solutions.
- Define business metrics, KPIs, reporting criteria, and analytical requirements in collaboration with stakeholders.
- Manage data processes including integration, transformation, modeling, validation, and visualization.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including data engineers, BI developers, analysts, IT, finance, sales, marketing, operations, and executives.
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, security, availability, and governance.
- Monitor BI systems, pipelines, dashboards, and reporting setups.
- Identify and remedy data quality issues.
- Support enterprise data warehouses, data lakes, cloud platforms, and modern analytics frameworks.
- Utilize tools like Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, Looker, SQL, and Python.
- Promote self-service analytics and data democratization.
- Design analytical frameworks for forecasting, trend analysis, performance evaluation, scenario planning, and strategy development.
- Leverage AI technologies including machine learning, predictive analytics, natural language analytics, and automation to upgrade BI proficiency.
- Assess new analytic technologies and propose solutions to improve scalability, efficiency, and maturity.
- Establish BI development standards, documentation, testing protocols, and governance principles.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, consultants, and external collaborators when necessary.
- Oversee BI budgets, resources, risks, and project outcomes.
- Present insights and strategic recommendations to executives and relevant stakeholders.
- Champion data literacy and data-driven culture across the organization.
- Continuously enhance reporting processes, data quality, automation, analytics skills, and BI infrastructure.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Statistics, Finance, Economics, or related areas.
- Profound grasp of BI, data analytics, modeling, visualization, and performance management.
- Expertise in SQL and relational database systems, data warehouses, data lakes, and ETL/ELT methodologies.
- Proficiency with BI platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Looker.
- Strong skills in KPI creation, dashboard development, data visualization, reporting structures, and analyzing business performance.
- Knowledge of data governance principles including data quality, metadata, master data, security, privacy, and access controls.
- Experience or familiarity with cloud data platforms like Azure, AWS, Google Cloud, Snowflake, or Databricks is a plus.
- Understanding of Python, R, statistics, predictive analytics, or machine learning adds value.
- Exposure to cutting-edge AI technologies such as generative AI, natural-language querying, automated insights, predictive modeling, and AI-enhanced analytics is advantageous.
- Leadership capabilities in managing projects, executing strategic planning, and handling stakeholder relationships effectively.
- Ability to translate complex business challenges into practical BI and analytics deliverables.
- Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and presentation abilities.
- Skill in communicating insights clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Familiarity with financial, operational, sales, customer, and performance metrics is beneficial.
- Knowledge of Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) data development practices is a plus.
- Proven ability to manage several BI projects, priorities, resources, deadlines, risks, and stakeholder expectations.
- Meticulous attention to data accuracy, analytical integrity, security, governance, and business importance.
- Professional certifications related to Power BI, Tableau, data analytics, cloud technology, project management, or BI are desirable.
- Demonstrates leadership, accountability, strategic mindset, adaptability, and detail orientation.
- Commitment to ongoing learning and staying current with BI, AI-powered analytics, cloud data platforms, automation, data governance, and analytics innovations.
