Job description

Job Overview

The Bell Captain will welcome guests, provide information on hotel amenities, local attractions, and assist with luggage handling and transportation arrangements. They act as a visible liaison, ensuring guests receive professional and attentive service from arrival to departure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Greet guests warmly and advise them on property services, hours, and nearby activities.
  • Open doors and assist guests or visitors entering or leaving the hotel premises.
  • Manage luggage storage, retrieval, and transport between guest rooms and designated areas.
  • Help guests with vehicle entry and exit, including luggage loading and unloading.
  • Provide directions and arrange transportation such as taxis, shuttle buses, or limousines as needed, logging advance requests.
  • Dispatch bell or valet staff for efficient guest service.
  • Communicate parking procedures clearly to guests and visitors.
  • Follow up to ensure guest requests and concerns are fully resolved.
  • Serve as a role model within the department and support management in activities including hiring, training, scheduling, employee evaluations, counseling, discipline, motivation, and coaching.
  • Maintain positive interdepartmental relationships and strictly adhere to company policies and safety requirements.
  • Monitor premises for security concerns and maintain a professional personal appearance.
  • Provide courteous, accessible service to guests, including those with disabilities.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with guests and colleagues, including proper telephone etiquette.
  • Comply with all quality assurance standards and ensure accuracy in handling information.
  • Perform physical tasks such as moving objects up to 50 pounds unassisted and more with help.
  • Adapt to walking, standing, or sitting for extended periods, traverse uneven surfaces, climb stairs, and bend or stoop as required.
  • Execute additional reasonable duties as instructed by supervisors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.).
  • Minimum one year of related work experience.
  • Less than one year of supervisory experience preferred.
  • No specific licenses or certifications required.
