Role Overview and Responsibilities
The Bartender role involves ensuring smooth, efficient, and profitable beverage operations at all hotel bars, banquet beverage areas, and the Lobby Lounge. Key duties include maximizing revenue through increased sales and prudent cost management, advising on beverage and wine menu updates to keep offerings fresh and attractive, and promoting guest satisfaction by utilizing incentive programs and promotions.
The role requires maintaining proper inventory systems, bar pars, requisitions, and controls to safeguard beverage areas and optimize cost efficiency. The candidate is expected to implement and participate in ongoing departmental training programs, uphold stringent safety and sanitation standards, perform monthly inspections according to Anantara's sanitation checklist, and manage assets responsibly.
Supporting banquet functions and fostering positive cooperation with other departments through open communication are also essential. The role demands a hands-on leadership style to motivate associates and uphold high service standards.
Essential Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience working as a bartender in hotels, resorts, bars, or restaurants.
- Completion of Grade 12 schooling is mandatory.
- Strong knowledge of classic cocktails, spirits, wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to operate efficiently in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Understanding of responsible alcohol service and hygiene standards.
- Experience with cash handling and point of sale (POS) systems is preferred.
- Professional demeanor, positive attitude, and an effective team player approach.
- Willingness to work flexible hours, including shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Hospitality, Food & Beverage, or Bartending certifications or training are advantageous.
