Job description
Job Summary
The Bar Manager is responsible for overseeing daily bar and lounge operations and supervising the team. This role involves assisting with lounge promotion, menu planning, maintaining standards, supporting floor servers during busy times, and managing liquor inventory and controls. The position prioritizes ensuring both guest and employee satisfaction while adhering to the operational budget and legal requirements. Identifying and fulfilling training needs to meet goals is essential, alongside providing support to the wider food and beverage team as necessary.
Key Responsibilities
- Implement and enforce the property's beverage policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant beverage and liquor laws at local, state, and federal levels.
- Manage beverage control processes including inventory tracking, bar par levels, portion and cost controls, sales analysis, and food standards.
- Monitor adherence to liquor control policies and attend meetings to align with group event needs.
- Understand and assist with departmental budgets, operating statements, and payroll to manage financial performance.
- Manage controllable expenses in the department to meet or surpass budget targets.
- Ensure strict compliance with all bar and lounge policies, operational standards, and maintain food handling and sanitation regulations.
- Control inventories effectively based on budget and business volume, and contribute to menu and promotional development.
- Train bar and lounge staff on liquor control policies and procedures.
- Oversee staffing to meet guest service standards, operational needs, and financial goals, ensuring clear communication of expectations and event details.
- Deliver excellent customer service by engaging with guests to gather feedback, resolving issues promptly, empowering staff, and focusing on continuous improvement through reviews and feedback sessions.
- Support employee orientation and new hire training programs, and participate in corrective action planning as needed.
