Role Overview

As a Bakers Helper, you will be an integral part of the bakery team, assisting experienced staff in producing and presenting fresh artisan breads, pastries, cookies, and muffins. The role involves hands-on baking support in a lively, creative environment, focusing on delivering personalized and superior customer service.

Primary Responsibilities

• Adhere strictly to company procedures, policies, and standards at all times.
• Welcome customers courteously and professionally.
• Provide excellent customer service aligned with Safeway’s programs.
• Operate bakery equipment such as mixers, commercial ovens, and donut fryers.
• Perform cleaning and sanitizing tasks for bakery tools and machinery.
• Assist in writing orders and manage daily production of baked items.
• Handle receiving and rotation of baked goods to ensure freshness.
• Stock and organize bakery displays effectively to attract customers.

Skills and Qualifications

• Previous experience in a similar role is advantageous.
• Quick learner with the ability to adapt in a fast-paced work environment.
• Strong motivation and a team-oriented attitude.
• Effective verbal and written communication abilities.
• Committed to safety and responsible work practices.
• Availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, with mandatory Sunday availability in Alberta.

Physical Demands

• Frequent lifting of items up to 20 pounds.
• Regular hand coordination, bending, pushing, pulling, and twisting movements.
• Occasional lifting of 20 to 50 pounds at waist or lower levels.
• Continuous standing, walking, gripping, and reaching throughout shifts.
