Role Overview

We are seeking a Backend Tech Lead to take hands-on ownership as a technical expert of critical system software. This role involves leading architecture, designing and coding high-quality software while solving complex programming, performance, and reliability challenges. Your work will directly influence our core product’s delivery speed, cost-efficiency, and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect and develop cutting-edge system software products.
• Optimize performance and manage memory effectively.
• Apply innovative solutions to virtualization, multithreading, and hardware-software interaction challenges.
• Design scalable and resilient solutions for complex system issues.
• Detect system design bottlenecks and implement robust, scalable fixes.
• Conduct thorough debugging, issue triaging, and resolution activities.
• Lead design conversations, reviews and decisions tackling critical system challenges, advocating modern methods and best practices.
• Integrate innovative solutions into complex system environments.
• Research emerging technologies to assess their fit with strategic technology roadmaps and business goals, planning integration strategies.
• Collaborate cross-functionally to align design goals and ensure smooth architectural integration.
• Drive continuous innovation through adoption of new methodologies and staying current with virtualization technology trends.
• Demonstrate flexibility and eagerness in handling new or related tasks, with a solution-oriented mindset.

Qualifications & Expertise

• Extensive hands-on backend development experience.
• Over 10 years professional experience using C#.
• Experienced user of generative AI tools to enhance software development processes and promote continuous learning.
• Solid knowledge of Linux and virtualization platforms such as VMware, Hyper-V, KVM, and Openshift.
• Deep understanding of software system design, development methodologies, and platform integration.
• Strong innovation capabilities and creative problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills for technical presentations and stakeholder engagement.
• Ability to work independently while mentoring and developing other team members.
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related areas.

Work Environment & Location

This position is based in Galway, Ireland and designed as a hybrid role, requiring an average of two days per week onsite at an HPE office.
