Overview
We are seeking a skilled Backend Software Engineer with expertise in Python to join a pioneering technology firm in London. The role involves developing next-generation intelligent software platforms that integrate real-world devices with cloud and data infrastructures. You will be a key contributor to building scalable backend architectures that process high volumes of real-time data across various environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Developing and maintaining clean, efficient backend code that performs reliably under large-scale demands.
- Designing APIs, optimizing database queries, and enhancing overall system performance.
- Ensuring backend systems support vital operational processes effectively and securely.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in backend engineering with a strong focus on writing maintainable, high-performance code.
- Deep experience with Python, particularly using FastAPI framework and Pydantic models.
- Competency in PostgreSQL databases and ORM tools like SQLAlchemy.
- Experience deploying and managing applications in AWS cloud environments.
- Familiarity with distributed systems technologies such as Redis and Celery for task queuing and caching.
- Desirable skills include exposure to machine learning inference platforms (e.g., GCP and Modal).
- Previous involvement with streaming data processing or Internet of Things (IoT)/edge computing contexts.
- Experience working in dynamic and fast-moving startup or high-growth company environments.
- Strong understanding of performance tuning in extensive system architectures.
- Knowledge of continuous integration and deployment (CI/CD) methodologies including testing and production rollout.
- Excellent communication abilities for effective collaboration within cross-disciplinary teams.
