Backend Engineer - G&A Solutions Engineering

The IS&T G&A Solutions Engineering team is initiating a major transformation program that involves migrating a custom-built system to a cloud-based platform. We seek a Backend Software Engineer to collaborate with a dynamic team of skilled engineers, committed to engineering excellence and creative problem solving. This role offers a unique chance to build impactful solutions with global reach.

Job Responsibilities

• Contribute as an integral member of an Agile team, engaging in all stages of product development including planning, design, implementation, and documentation.
• Collaborate closely with fellow engineers, quality assurance professionals, and project managers to deliver secure, scalable, and high-quality systems.
• Develop distributed build and orchestration systems that enhance deployment velocity and reliability, incorporating improved observability and continuous delivery.
• Design tools and workflows aimed at boosting engineering productivity and efficiency.

Required Qualifications

• At least 4 years of experience in software development building commercial or enterprise-level backend platforms or components.
• Strong expertise and hands-on experience in multithreading, networking (including non-blocking IO), HTTP, and designing RESTful APIs.
• Solid understanding of web service technologies such as REST, JSON, SOAP, HTTP, SSL, SAML, and WSDL.
• Advanced skills in Core Java and Spring framework.
• Experience working with both SQL and NoSQL databases.
• Deep knowledge of concurrency, scalability, and fault-tolerant system design.
• Proven experience developing highly performant and scalable backend components, with a focus on responsiveness and performance.
• Familiarity with application performance optimization and caching mechanisms.
• Advocate for performance tuning, automation, unit and integration testing.
• Excellent debugging capabilities, critical thinking, and communication skills.
• Ability to rapidly learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate effectively across diverse, fast-paced teams.
• Proficiency in English and Chinese communication, both oral and written.
• Meticulous attention to detail and a positive, adaptable attitude.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Spring Reactor or reactive programming paradigms.
• Knowledge of gRPC protocol is advantageous.
• Hands-on experience with search platforms such as SOLR or Elasticsearch.
• Exposure to SaaS, PaaS, or RaaS environments.
• Familiarity with HR systems is highly desirable.
