Job description
Overview
A biopharmaceutical company in Waterford is looking for an Automation Engineer to collaborate with the Automation team in delivering high-standard automation support for manufacturing operations and project execution. This position serves as the main automation liaison for manufacturing segments including Fill Finish, Packaging, Projects, Maintenance, and Facilities, providing expert technical support to Process, Maintenance, and Facilities Engineering groups.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver daily automation assistance to operational units ensuring compliance, dependability, and regulatory conformity of systems.
- Act as the primary automation contact for areas such as Fill Finish, Packaging, Projects, Maintenance, and Facilities departments.
- Spot, assess, and implement improvements in PLC and SCADA platforms, related software, and automation processes.
- Offer specialized guidance to Process, Maintenance, and Facilities Engineers regarding automation matters.
- Maintain automation systems in a validated compliant condition aligned with GAMP lifecycle standards.
- Prepare, analyze, and carry out automation change controls and validation documentation.
Qualifications and Experience
- Possess relevant educational credentials in a related field.
- Have 3 to 5 years of practical experience in pharmaceutical automation, control systems, or engineering projects.
- Hands-on knowledge of PLC systems, preferably Siemens and Elau platforms.
- Familiarity with SCADA environments like iFix, Wonderware, Utility MS, or EMS.
- Experience working with vision systems such as Antares or Systech; packaging serialization experience adds strong advantage.
- Background in packaging operations or sterile vial filling processes is helpful but not mandatory.
- Comprehensive technical understanding of automation encompassing both operational and project engineering stages throughout the GAMP lifecycle.
- Skilled in control system change management and proficient in the development and execution of validation protocols.
