Job description
Overview
This role involves overseeing the settlement processes, file submissions, and accounting duties related to Credit and Debit card transactions for the bank. You will manage the accounting and bookkeeping tasks for all Card Operations, assist the Cards business team in launching new products and conducting User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and design processes and implement changes. Ensuring timely and accurate daily reconciliations and settlements within the framework of approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Service Level Agreements (SLA) is critical.
Key Responsibilities
- Accurately post all accounting entries associated with settlements for various cards including Diners, MasterCard, Visa (credit, debit, prepaid, Paycards), Amex, and CUP acquiring in a timely manner.
- Prevent any financial loss resulting from settlement failures.
- Escalate all unresolved complaints to management and ensure prompt resolution.
- Allocate Chargebacks and Re-presentments correctly to their respective chargeback accounts.
- Credit or debit customer accounts based on Base II reject processes.
- Recover amounts according to Debit card settlement adjustments and monitor blocked customer accounts.
- Collaborate with the IT department to support UAT and ensure timely deployment of scheme mandates.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the line manager and department head.
Internal and External Interactions
- Work closely with branches, the cards business team, reconciliation team, operations risk, call centre, vault unit, RTB cards, ATM channels, IT, corporate banking, card marketing, and HR departments internally.
- Liaise with external entities such as Visa, MasterCard, Diners, Amex, CUP, co-branders and joint ventures of the bank, Qatar Central Bank, NAPS scheme and other stakeholders.
Competencies and Skills
- Strong customer focus with a sound knowledge of banking operations and policies.
- Ability to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders across multicultural environments.
- Expertise in auditing, bank operations, anti-money laundering (AML/CFT processes and CAMS certification), regulatory compliance, risk analysis, financial analysis, credit card account management, and related banking services.
- Knowledge of cheque processing, foreign exchange, escrow and bond services, certificate of deposits, loan and mutual funds processing, savings and checking accounts, online and retail banking, personal and private client services.
- Experience with due diligence, relationship management, consumer lending, and salesmanship.
Education
A bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification is required.
