Job description
About Traveloka
Traveloka stands as Southeast Asia's leading travel and lifestyle super-app, connecting millions across the region with flights, hotels, experiences, financial services, and more in one platform. Since 2012, it has grown to operate in eleven markets, managing billions in transactions and becoming a top consumer brand in the region.
Southeast Asia’s unique, mobile-first, and rapidly growing market demands innovative approaches, and Traveloka pioneers this by tailoring its strategies specifically to the region's needs.
About The Team
The team powers Traveloka's accommodation business by partnering with independent hotels that define each Southeast Asian destination's unique charm—from boutique hotels in Bali to family-run inns in Da Nang. Team members sign properties, adjust pricing, and ensure travelers access the best deals. This role requires regional insight and personalized market-building instead of applying conventional Western models.
Role Overview
As an Associate Market Manager, you will manage a high-value country portfolio, acting as a seasoned individual contributor without direct reports but offering guidance and influence to peers. You'll be responsible for crafting and executing commercial strategies that drive supply growth, competitiveness, and revenue targets.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement commercial plans for one or more major destinations, setting priorities, securing supply, and achieving targets for room nights and revenue.
- Establish large, strategic hotel partnerships, negotiating multi-quarter deals and exclusive contracts.
- Create and oversee competitiveness strategies involving pricing, content, ranking, and availability, consistently applying them across your portfolio.
- Identify structural supply gaps and demand opportunities, converting them into actionable acquisition and growth strategies.
- Provide mentorship and informal portfolio reviews to junior market managers to enhance team performance.
- Collaborate with pricing, product, and marketing teams to stimulate destination-level growth and improve integration with flight offerings.
- Own and communicate data-driven insights and recommendations pertaining to your market to management and leadership.
Required Qualifications and Experience
- At least five years of experience in hotel commercial operations or OTA market management, including managing a flagship destination.
- Proven ability to independently execute complex and high-stakes commercial initiatives with accountability for outcomes.
- Expertise in negotiating sizable, structured hotel agreements and managing partner commitments long-term.
- Experience in developing and managing competitiveness and growth frameworks beyond individual account management.
- Strong market analysis skills: assessing supply, demand, competition, and seasonality to establish strategic priorities.
- Track record of mentoring less experienced managers and elevating team standards without formal management responsibilities.
- Influence cross-functional teams in pricing, product, and marketing to meet market-specific needs.
- Proficiency with analytics and AI tools, setting benchmarks for data-informed decision-making within the market.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, paired with a successful commercial track record.
- Fluency in English and the local language of the market, with excellent communication and negotiation skills.
- Ability to create replicable playbooks adopted across different markets.
- Established relationships with major hotel groups or large independents, enabling swift access to key partners.
