Role Purpose

This strategic role demands a seasoned legal expert to act as Associate General Counsel for the APAC region, based in Singapore. The incumbent will spearhead legal and regulatory affairs spanning diverse jurisdictions across Asia Pacific, delivering critical counsel to regional executives. Managing an expanding regional legal team, the role includes mitigating intricate cross-border risks and supporting the scalable growth of commercial operations within varying regulatory frameworks.

Key Responsibilities

• Craft and implement a regional legal strategy cohesive with global business goals.
• Act as the principal legal counsel to the APAC leadership on significant commercial projects and regional growth strategies.
• Ensure corporate governance standards, regulatory adherence, and government relations are maintained throughout APAC markets.
• Provide direction on complex, multijurisdictional regulatory matters including regulations related to data privacy and financial operations.
• Oversee dispute resolution, employment issues, and corporate transactions within the region, coordinating with external legal partners.
• Recruit, mentor, and cultivate a top-tier team of legal professionals across multiple regional hubs.

Experience and Qualification Requirements

• Must be a qualified lawyer in Singapore or another prominent common law jurisdiction with an excellent academic record.
• At least 12 years of professional experience, prominently featuring leadership of regional legal affairs in-house.
• Extensive familiarity with legal and regulatory frameworks across key markets in APAC, including Southeast Asia, Australia, and Greater China.
• Demonstrated success in managing dispersed legal teams and adept at overcoming complex cross-border legal challenges.
• Strong commercial insight, balancing stringent legal compliance with rapid business growth demands.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills to bridge regional operations and global headquarters effectively.
