Associate Director - Dry Utilities

Job Overview

WSP is seeking a highly experienced Associate Director for Dry Utilities to join the Infrastructure team based in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. The role focuses on leading the design and delivery of dry utilities projects, ensuring technical excellence and strategic leadership across multidisciplinary teams. Expertise in dry utilities infrastructure including power, telecommunications, street lighting, and compliance with regional authority standards is essential. The candidate will contribute to innovative solutions within major infrastructure initiatives and support business growth in the Middle East region.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and provide strategic and technical oversight for dry utilities design projects covering power supply, telecom networks, and street lighting systems.
• Manage preparation phases including conceptual, preliminary, and detailed designs ensuring full alignment with local authority regulations and standards.
• Direct and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams to meet project scope, budget, and timelines successfully.
• Serve as the main point of contact for clients, fostering strong relationships and ensuring their requirements are met.
• Maintain rigorous quality control through design reviews and adherence to both local and international guidelines.
• Participate actively in business development efforts, leveraging local market insights and networks to produce winning proposals and bids.
• Provide mentorship and professional development guidance to junior and mid-level engineers, enhancing team capability.
• Coordinate with local authorities and stakeholders to obtain necessary permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Promote sustainability and innovative practices in dry utilities designs aligned with organizational vision.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Civil, or related engineering fields; a Master’s degree is desirable.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in dry utilities design with at least 5 years in senior leadership roles.
• Proven success delivering dry utilities projects specifically in Saudi Arabia, with in-depth knowledge of related authority standards.
• Experience managing design teams on large infrastructure projects, including urban complexes, highways, and mixed-use developments.
• Excellent client engagement abilities and strong skills in leadership and stakeholder relationship management.
• Business development experience contributing to successful bids and proposals.
• Registered Chartered Engineer status such as CEng or PE is highly preferred.
