This role offers the chance to challenge conventional modelling methods and engage with diverse projects including IRB, IFRS9, and internal operational models by applying innovative validation techniques. You will be part of a supportive and collaborative environment dedicated to delivering outstanding customer outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead independent validations of credit decisioning models such as IRB, IFRS9, ensuring conceptual soundness of rating philosophies, data integrity, calibration, and performance evaluation through various economic cycles.
- Oversee ongoing validation of model effectiveness throughout the credit lifecycle, including portfolio and segment analyses, interactions with risk-weighted asset (RWA) overlays, expert judgements, and adjustments.
- Provide credible challenges to validation outcomes that deviate from expected results or risk appetite.
- Ensure that validation conclusions are accurately reflected in capital utilization, credit frameworks, overlays, limitations, and monitoring practices.
- Collaborate with model owners to facilitate appropriate remediation of identified issues.
- Serve as the second line technical authority on all credit model validation concerns.
- Support regulatory reviews, comprehensive deep dives, and supervisory engagements relating to IRB models.
Required Experience and Skills
- Substantial background in banking or financial services, particularly within model development or validation, credit risk management, quantitative modelling, or governance roles.
- Proficiency in statistical and economic modelling, together with coding capabilities in languages such as Python and SAS.
- Strong interpersonal and influencing abilities to engage with multiple stakeholders and effectively communicate complex concepts and deliver results.
- In-depth understanding of model impacts on credit decisions, capital requirements, provisioning, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
- Excellent written communication skills to produce detailed validation reports supported by analytical evidence and logical rationale.
- Open mindset toward adopting AI tools to enhance credit validation processes.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, resilience, autonomy, and a customer-focused approach.
