Job description
Position Overview
The Assistant Store Manager plays a pivotal role in supporting the store’s operational success and delivering an exceptional customer experience. This position assists the Store Manager in leadership duties and assumes full responsibility during their absence. Key areas of focus include managing daily operations, motivating and overseeing staff, driving sales targets, and upholding excellent customer service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Consistently prioritize customer needs and ensure high quality customer service across all interactions.
- Foster a strong customer-focused culture by leading by example.
- Strive to meet or exceed store sales targets through effective planning and execution.
- Ensure the entire team understands and is aligned with the set KPIs and sales goals.
- Implement merchandising and promotional offers effectively to maximize sales impact.
- Regularly review and audit store administrative procedures, resolving any discrepancies promptly.
- Collaborate with the Store Manager to establish and achieve realistic sales objectives; monitor performance via KPIs.
- Manage inventory control, stock levels, and merchandising standards to optimize product availability and store presentation.
- Maintain high standards in store layout and visual merchandising consistent with brand guidelines.
- Manage staffing schedules, addressing staff needs related to work hours, leave, and concerns.
- Enhance team performance by providing constructive feedback, coaching, and maintaining staff discipline as needed.
- Ensure all staff adhere to corporate image standards, including dress code and personal presentation.
- Promote security best practices related to stock and cash management within the store environment.
- Respond to and implement corrective actions to maintain operational effectiveness and ethical standards.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum of three years progressive experience in a customer-centric retail role with leadership responsibilities.
- Strong managerial and problem-solving capabilities proven through successful team leadership and sales achievements.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred in business administration, retail management, or a related discipline.
