Job Overview

The role of Assistant Store Manager involves leading and nurturing your store team to provide exceptional service to customers. You will assist pet owners in selecting appropriate nutrition and care products while contributing to a passionate team environment. This role supports career growth in a leading pet retail company.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure staff adhere to high standards of customer service, fostering positive relationships within the local community and organizations such as Humane Society.
  • Oversee staff management including hiring, scheduling, training, daily task allocation, supervision, and coaching.
  • Maintain operational compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
  • Handle administrative duties like placing orders, managing inventory, conducting audits for store and safety, facilitating minor repairs, and completing required paperwork.
  • Drive business performance by coordinating team efforts to meet sales and operational targets.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • A minimum of two years’ experience in customer service and retail store management.
  • Keen interest and motivation to advance knowledge in pet care.
  • Friendly and outgoing character with strong customer service aptitude.
  • Must be available to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
  • Reliable transportation to commute to the store location.
  • Competency in coaching staff on sales methods and delivering superior customer service.
  • Ability to recognize and manage intra-team conflicts, escalating when necessary.
  • Proficient with POS (Point of Sale) systems.
  • Capable of repeatedly lifting weights up to 50 pounds.
  • Previous experience within the pet industry is advantageous.
