Overview
The Assistant Reservations Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the reservations department, acting as the key operational support to the Director of Revenue Management. This role balances leadership duties with executing revenue strategies and ensuring optimal reservation processes at the hotel in Doha, Qatar.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the reservations department daily by managing workflows, shift transitions, and staff schedules.
- Supervise, mentor, and develop reservation agents, focusing on booking procedures, customer interaction skills, and effective upselling approaches.
- Handle escalated customer concerns, complex booking cases, VIP reservations, and group allocations personally.
- Maintain precision and accuracy in reservation data to support reliable revenue reporting.
- Collaborate closely with the Director of Revenue Management to carry out daily pricing adjustments, yield strategies, and control policies including minimum length of stay and booking restrictions through property management and reservation systems.
- Monitor room inventory, availability, and overbooking limits to maximize occupancy without revenue loss.
- Conduct continual checks for rate parity across online travel agencies and metasearch engines, addressing any discrepancies immediately.
- Oversee group booking management, including block allocations, deadlines, deposits, and billing coordination with sales and revenue teams.
- Ensure flawless integration and error-free connectivity among PMS, Channel Manager, CRS, and third-party booking platforms.
- Audit reservation entries for accurate market segmentation, origin codes, rate mappings, and commission frameworks.
- Support the Director of Revenue Management in launching new promotions, rate plans, and packages across all distribution channels.
- Prepare and deliver daily reports on reservation pickups, booking pace, cancellations, and call conversion metrics.
- Participate actively in weekly revenue strategy meetings to provide operational insights on market trends and booking behaviors.
Qualifications and Expertise
- Possess a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or an equivalent discipline.
- Have at least three years of experience in hotel reservations or front desk operations, including a minimum of one to two years in a supervisory or senior role.
- Proficient with Property Management Systems such as Opera PMS, Cloudbeds, or Mews.
- Experienced with Central Reservation Systems and Channel Managers, for example SiteMinder and RateGain.
- Familiarity with OTA management platforms including Expedia Partner Central and Booking.com Partner Hub, as well as GDS processes.
- Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for reporting purposes.
