Position Overview
The Cavenagh Hotel in Darwin City is seeking a skilled Assistant Manager to join its flagship venue. This role demands a highly experienced hospitality professional capable of managing a high-volume, multifaceted operation, including bars, an award-winning dining room, a gaming lounge, and accommodation services. The ideal candidate thrives in fast-paced environments, maintains a strong focus on operational excellence, and demonstrates leadership to uphold superior service standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Build rapport with regular patrons to become a familiar and trusted face in the establishment.
- Assist the Publican in ensuring smooth, safe, and vibrant pub operations.
- Develop leadership skills by guiding and motivating a dedicated hospitality team.
- Proactively address issues to prevent escalation and maintain seamless service.
- Consistently deliver positive energy, exceptional service, and a welcoming atmosphere during shifts.
Physical Requirements
- Engage in hands-on duties including manual handling and moving items like stock, kegs, and deliveries, performing these tasks safely and effectively.
Candidate Profile
- Previous experience working in bar, bistro, or gaming room environments, including supervisory roles or responsibilities.
- Demonstrated learning from seasoned managers, ready to take on expanded leadership duties.
- Confidence and strong interpersonal skills to represent the venue in the absence of the Publican.
- Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) / Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG) certification along with a Northern Territory Gaming Machine Managers Licence, meeting local regulatory standards.
